Kimisitu Sacco was formed in March 1985 by a group of Staff from ICRAF. The society was formed mainly to promote thrift among its members by affording them an opportunity for accumulating their savings; and to thereby create a source of funds from which loans can be made to them exclusively for provident and productive purposes, at fair and reasonable rates of interest; thereby enabling them to use and control their money for their mutual benefit.

By providing the board with a central document repository, Kimisitu Sacco has seen an ease in the sharing of board papers. Mrs. Ruth Macharia is now able to share corrected documents from any board pack at any time. “I don’t have to worry when I have to send a corrected document, because I am sure everyone will be notified and it will be displayed on the homepage and stored in the briefcase.”

Board members have all time access to the meeting pack. “We upload everything on eBoard and board members can access the details wherever they are, whenever they want, 24 hours a day. They can review and annotate from wherever they are. It’s saved us so much time,” said Ruth Macharia. “ It is very convenient for them to have more productive meetings.

Savings on time, money and resources

Previously, the organization’s time, printers and paper reams were all excessively used in preparation for board and committee meetings. With eBoard, Kimisitu Sacco has saved close to 25,000 USD in printing and distribution costs. They also continue to make an environmental impact by using less paper and saving more trees.
